Bonnie Cohan has a Music Education degree from De Paul University and a
Masters of Art Degree in cello performance from Chicago Musical College at
Roosevelt University. She has worked as a freelance musician playing in
chamber ensembles, orchestras, and recording studios both in Chicago and
Atlanta. Ms. Cohan has taught cello for 35 years starting in the Music For
Youth program in Arlington Heights, Illinois, one of the country's first
Suzuki in the schools music programs.
Her students have both soloed and performed with the Atlanta Symphony
Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, Emory Youth Symphony
Orchestra, the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, and the Georgia Allstate
Orchestras. Her students have gone on to attend Julliard, Peabody and the
Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
Bonnie served as president of the Suzuki Association of Georgia from
2006-2010 and helped implement the Suzuki Graduation Concert of Georgia
fashioned after Dr. Suzuki's Grand Concert held each year in Japan.
